How Can You Get Started On Improving Your Singing
photo

Things You’ll Need:

  • A desire to improve your singing.

Step1
Breathing Exercises CDor Download www.ReadyToSing.net Your voice is an instrument, however this musical instrument is also a part of your body. It will act accordingly. Take good care of your voice and it will be there for you.

Strengthen the support system of your voice. Your diaphragm. The diaphragm is the muscle that allows you to hold air. If you exercise this abdominal muscle directly below the rib cage, it will get bigger and stronger. If you can hold more air, then you can produce more sound. Whether you are sustaining your notes longer or projecting your voice. It all is a result of a strong diaphragm. Establishing good breathing habits are essential to your developing all of the vocal/singing techniques that you would like to practice and improve on. Exercise your diaphragm by doing breathing exercises every day for 2 - 5 minutes. Though there are many different breathing exercises, the breathing exercises that you choose should be enjoyable and easy for you to remember and understand. As long as you remember the purpose of the breathing exercises you will not have difficulty trying different exercises and selecting your favorites.

Step2
Vocal Exercises,Lessons & warmups http:// WWW.ReadyToSing.net Practice and improve your Pitch - Training Your Ear

It is crucial that you train your ear and your voice simultaneously.

Relative pitch is your ability to repeat notes exactly as you hear them. EX- learning a new song or repeating a vocal exercise. No matter what you sing, you have to listen first and even after that you rely on your ear to guide you through whatever you are singing. EX- while you are singing a song you might hit a wtrong note but you will stop yourself and say "oops, that was the wrong note." You had to HEAR that it was incorrect. You will then proceed to correct the wrong note by LISTENING. Relative Pitch is also your ability to sing with accompaniment (piano, guitar, instrumentals,Band, etc.) without falling off pitch or off key.

To improve your relative pitch, do vocal/singing exercises that you are not familiar with. The unfamiliarity of the vocal exercise will put your ear to work and train it. The vocal/singing exercise will also help you to develop other vocal/singing techniques.

Step3
Exercises for Vibratto, sustaining,Fading out, Crescendos www.ReadyToSing.net Learn,Practice & Develop Vocal/Singing Techniques

Vibratto - vibration of the notes

  • How Do I  Improve My Singing And Learn To Sing With Vibratto?"

    Step 1:

"Vibratto" is an Italian word and it means vibration. Using Vibratto when you sing means "the vibration of the pitch/note". Just like a guitar string vibrates to create its own unique tone, so does the violin player, cellist etc. If you ever watch a violinist or cellist you may notice the back and forth motion that they make with their wrist that is actually on the strings. This motion is "VIBRATTO". The vibratto technique adds a very warm, pleasant and resonant tone to most instruments. This includes your voice (also an instrument).

    Step 2:

You can recognize vibratto when you hear it. It sounds like a mild and controlled trembling in the voice. To practice using your vibratto, you want to start the trembling motion slow. This will help you to get used to where your vibratto is coming from. Once you are familiar with where the vibratto motion is coming from on YOU, then you can control it better and then work on speeding up the vibratto.

    Step 3:

Choose any two notes that are next to each other in pitch. (Ex. C & D or F & G.). Using a vowel sound like AAH or ooh, go back and forth between the two notes about 8 times and then try to maintain the trembling that you have started on the last note. Repeat this and then choose different notes (remember they have to be right next to each other). When you feel that you are improving, you can start speeding up the vocal-exercise. To develop your vibratto, you have to be consistent with this vocal-exercise. Once a day for ten minutes is good. To hear a sample of vibratto, go to the link below and listen to samples of "Ready To Sing VIBRATTO"

I am singing the song "Somewhere" as my audition song, I will acompanied by a piano. Any tips on auditioning??

any advice will be appreciated A TON!!!!!

    Hello Barbie.

    Congradulations and Good Luck!

Practice is good of course but make sure you know what to practice in this song "Somewehere" and what it needs from you for a great delivery of the song.

1.Pay attention to breathing points. These are all of the places in a song where you are supposed to breathe.

Once you know where all of the breathing points are in the song, practice it. This will help you be more consistent with your breathing and your ability to project your voice when you sing.

    2. Listen to your favorite singers version of the song (ex. Barbara Striesand) and pay close attention to their DYNAMICS. This the use of FADING out your notes, CRESCENDOS (Swaying feel)

and the use of VIBRATTO (vibration of the notes). If you can practice using these techniques in the song, practice it in the same places as the singer.

3.Practice putting FEELING in the song. You have to deliver the message of the song not just your ability to sing well. You can practice this by saying the lyrics first, then sing them the way YOU would SAY them..

    4 Follow JUST LOVELY'S advice

5..Do your breathing & stretching exercises before you audition.

    6. THINK POSITIVE and go have a GREAT TIME !!

    Don't worry,

Many singers get nervous before they sing. This is very normal. Even some of your favorite recording artists get nervous.

Do not expect to not get nervous but it is how you handle it.

Don't forget your goal. You will be a singer and many people will want to hear you, so get goin.

Start by singing in the mirror.

Try again to participate in talent shows, plays, singing auditions etc..

Work with a vocal coach, CDs vocal exercises, dvds etc. There are many resources.

Work on improving your singing and then you will become a more confident singer.

    OK, no more chickenin out.

I do not want to pay for a seat to come see you in concert and you chicken out!
